In 1992, New York City Investment Banker Lincoln Spoor took his first taste of a Krispy Kreme doughnut and it was love at first bite. At that precise moment Lincoln knew what his mission in life would be. He would be the guy to introduce Krispy Kreme doughnuts to Las Vegas and the west coast.
It took six years and a lot of begging and pleading but finally on March 3, 1998, the first Krispy Kreme doughnut store was set to open in Las Vegas. Would the venerable east coast doughnut chain fare as well in the west; a question even Krispy Kreme executives couldn’t answer. Practically overnight, Krispy kreme became an instant hit with lines wrapping around the first flagship store for weeks.
This was Lincoln’s dream. He knew that people would connect emotionally with the warm, sweet smell and light airy texture of doughnuts made fresh and served hot. Many people wrote letters praising him for bringing a piece of their childhood back to town. Others simply were awed by the taste. Lincoln’s first Krispy Kreme store was bonified. That experience would soon give rise to Westward Dough, Lincoln’s company dedicated to the pursuit of incredibly delicious food and refreshing beverages.
